The Sewing Barn is a two storey building set in a courtyard . The buildings were previously farm outbuildings which have been converted to provide characterful premises for a number of small businesses. Set in lovely countryside approximately 4 miles from the beautiful town of Ashbourne the location is ideal for spending time sewing whether it is patchwork and quilting, soft furnishings or one of the many special one off days such as free motion machine embroidery or quilt as you go for example.
The workshop on the first floor is spacious and well equipped. The work tables are large and there is also a large cutting out table that is higher so that you don’t get back ache bending over tables. It’s also great for layering and pinning quilts and cutting out curtain fabric. I have provided lots of ironing mats so that you can iron where it is most convenient for the class.
Beginners to sewing are very welcome. I have four sewing machines available for people to use in classes and the regular classes never have more than eight people in them so I have time to help people make good progress with their sewing projects.
There is plenty of free parking available and I provide as much tea and coffee as you can drink
As well as classes for individuals, workshops for groups can be arranged. This could be a family group wanting to celebrate mother’s day or a special birthday, a craft group who would like to come and have a go at something new – fabric brooches or fabric dyeing for example, or a hen party. The crafts don’t have to involve sewing. Ring me for a chat about what could be arranged. X
